Patient FAQs

You've got questions? We have answers!

What does a physical therapist do?

Do I receive personalized care from a physical therapist at each appointment, or will I see an assistant?

At In Motion, our mission is to provide the highest quality care available. To maximize your care, we do not delegate your care to aides or assistants. You will be seen by only a registered physical therapist during each treatment session at our clinic. At In Motion, our physical therapists have advanced training in orthopedic and sports injury management and care. We specialize in improving your strength, mobility, and overall fitness, whether you are recovering from injury, or seeking optimal performance in your sport.

Do I need a doctors recommendation?

In California you can be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without a physician's referral. Some insurance plans require that you obtain a referral from your physician in order for the visit to be covered. We can advise you as to whether this is required by your plan.

How do I get started? How long will I typically wait to get an appointment?

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please bring any relevant X-rays, MRI's or operative reports done in the last 12 months. Remember to wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and bring a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. Please complete the Patient Intake Form (available here) prior to your initial visit.

What type of insurances do you accept?

Is there anything I can do to speed up my recovery? How can I heal faster?

From day one we teach and provide you with a customized written, well illustrated home exercise program. This thoughtful, specific, and effective program, will empower you to manage your injury to speed your recovery.
